Visit your private refuge

Posted on: April 14th, 2014 by Heideh Fardi-Lindstrom

The slightly warmer weather in the last few days has inspired me to think about impromptu al fresco meals with my friends and family.
I need to make sure I am ready to entertain my guests with a warm and welcoming atmosphere so I checked to see what condition my patio furniture was in after this harsh winter -they have definitely seen better days.
I decided to go and see the ladies at bb interiors and see what I could find. As usual, I was offered a variety of options. I found exactly what I was looking for in the Caluco outdoor furniture collection and layered it with a few lovely “performance” fabrics by Sunbrella, adding both color and texture to my beautiful new set. Elegant and stylish design at an affordable price. Wow!image10
Here are a few tips I learned from the ladies at bb interiors about the many different levels of performance fabric and what to look for when looking for quality:
* Coated fabrics: looks for performance fabrics embedded in the product. Many fabrics are created by just applying a coating. The coating may be inexpensive and could disappear with long term use and fade with sun exposure.
* Engineered for performance: true performance fabrics are entirely engineered to meet specific requirements; abrasion and fade resistance, ease of cleaning, comfort and styling. Engineered performance fabrics can be more expensive than alternatives, but offer the best value and fewest compromises between durability and aesthetics.
Now that we have a comfortable place for everyone to sit and enjoy their dining experience let’s focus on the meal. One of my favorite books for al fresco dining is “good for you” by Dana Jacobi. I am sharing with you one of the easy, healthy, everyday recipes that I will be serving on my Simon Pearce dishes along side the cantaloupe- basil granita served in my Simon Pearce stemware.image4image3
Al fresco dining is a pleasure to be savored and a very important part of well-being. So go, sit outside, share wonderful food and drinks with your loved ones and be well.
Until next time
